Human Physiology, PhD
Program Description
The primary goal of the human physiology program is to provide classroom and research experiences that will allow graduate students to grow into professionals with the knowledge and experience to be great researchers and instructors.Providing students with an in-depth understanding of human physiology and advanced research skills is the hallmark of the College of Arts and Sciences PhD program. The department also provides students the opportunity to grow as university-level educators.
Study towards a PhD follows an individualized program with a strong emphasis on research.
The department encourages all applicants to this program, either with or without a MS degree however, they can no longer admit students who are seeking a terminal MS degree based on coursework or research alone.
Prerequisites
GPA criteria: Minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scaleMinimum completed coursework:
1 General Chemistry class
1 General Biology class
2 Physiology classes (or combined Anatomy & Physiology classes)
Grade criteria for each class: minimum grade of B-
An individualized, holistic review process is used when considering each completed application. The following items are considered during holistic review:

Record of achievements, honors, and awards
Special accomplishments, work, and service both in and out of school
Any special circumstances included in applicant's file that put the applicant's academic achievements into context
