Education Policy and Leadership, MS

    Program Description

    Our program is a 12-month place-based program that awards you a Master of Science degree in Education Policy and Leadership (EPoL). The program combines methodological training, theoretical grounding, and practical expertise in US education policy, evidence-based decision-making, organizational leadership, and policy-making processes. If desired, EPoL students can add on an optional specialization in data science.

    Statement of Purpose
    Your statement of purpose is a place for you to tell us about yourself and your interest in the Education Policy and Leadership MS program. In particular, we are interested in learning:
    Why you are applying for this program
    What your professional goals are after receiving your MS
    How your prior experiences, whether from work or life, prepared you for this MS
    What you hope to get out of the program
    If there are particular faculty you have been in touch with or who you are excited to study with, please let us know.
    Please keep your statement of purpose to under 4 double-spaced pages (12-point font) and upload using PDF or Word format.


    Writing Samples
    An academic or professional writing sample is optional. If you choose to include one, please select a writing sample that demonstrates your substantive, analytic, and/or writing skills. Your sample could be a research brief you’ve written for a job you’ve held, a paper written for a class synthesizing an area of research or original research that you conducted, or another piece of your writing that you believe accurately demonstrates your skills and interests. Please only submit one writing sample (Microsoft Word document of PDF accepted). It can be of any length (within reason) but please note that longer samples may not be read in full.
